Thomson Medical Centre offers Confinement Nannies through link-up with South East Community Development Council

Angels in the eyes of new mothers, confinement nannies are often considered to be a necessity during their recuperation in the first month.

However, as many have painfully learned, hiring a confinement nanny may not always guarantee bliss, especially when most mothers employ nannies without actually seeing them in person prior to the delivery of the newborn.

TMC Understands The Needs Of New Mothers
At Thomson Medical Centre (TMC), we understand the concerns and needs of especially first-time mothers who require confident, competent, caring, compassionate and conscientious confinement nannies. At TMC, we aim to meet exactly these needs and to ensure seamless and continuous care for both mother and child after delivery and through the first important month.

The TMC-trained Nanny
All nannies trained at TMC undergo an extensive hands-on training programme conducted by its ParentCraft specialists. They are trained in areas such as understanding and handling a crying baby, diet and nutrition planning, and the handling of common emergency situations.

Equally important is that the TMC-trained nanny is modern and up-to-date as the training emphasizes clinically-proven care techniques dispelling common myths and beliefs formally held by many nannies.

In addition, all nannies placed by TMC have 24-hour access to a ParentCraft consultants to have any of their questions answered.

Partnership with South East CDC
TMC is the first hospital to tie-up such a "train-and-place" program for the unemployed with CDC, which sponsors $200 fee per confinement nanny.

The program aims to offer work for the jobless. Since SE CDC started this program in the middle of last year, there have been more than 130 applications. The majority of these nannies are Singaporeans and they include both Chinese and Malay.

Once the confinement nannies are trained by TMC, the hospital will match suitable confinement jobs for the nannies.

TMC Quality
TMC is a pioneer and has a rich tradition in the caring for both mother and child over thepast 23 years. The training is conducted by qualified senior consultants from TMC's Parentcraft Centre who run various types of training courses to equip care-givers with the necessary skills to confidently care for both infants and mothers.

Certificates are awarded to these nannies at the end of the training period.

A Nanny to Suit Your Needs
Mothers can either choose a stay-in confinement nanny, which costs $2,200 per month, or a part-time nanny who works from 7am to 6.30pm daily, costing $1,900 per month. All mothers-to-be will have the opportunity to interview the nanny before employment.

Testimonials
